Description
The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Alaska to the Museum’s Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation about her upcoming new album, RED 4 FILTH, and her career moderated by Monét X Change. Following the conversation, Alaska will perform a selection of songs from the album.
A bizarre cosmic collision propelled Alaska to Earth...and onto the fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, where she finished in the final 3 before returning and taking the crown as winner of season two of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars. She has released three chart-topping studio albums, been a cast member of VH1's hit reality series Scared Famous, released a young adult novel titled Alaska Thunderfun and the Inner Space Odyssey (part of the Sickening Adventures fiction series, available everywhere books are sold online), stars as Hattie in the short horror film The Quiet Room directed by Sam Wineman, and toured the globe spreading her otherworldly message of love, kindness and gender non-conformity. Alaska also co-hosts the wildly popular Race Chaser podcast with Willam, and her YouTube videos boast over 60 million views with 15 million views alone (and counting) for 2017's "The T." She has over 1.7 million Instagram followers and over 1.1 million twitter & FB followers. Her message to humankind? "If you're not wearing nails, you are not doing drag."
Born and bred in New York City, Monét X Change is an entertainment spitfire and the first double crown winner from RuPaul’s Drag Race having earned the title Miss Congeniality on Season 10 and became the first queen of color inducted into the Hall of Fame after winning All-Stars 4. Known for delivering energetic and show-stopping performances, Monét’s showmanship reflects a tireless work ethic. After RuPaul’s Drag Race, Monét released a debut EP, Unapologetically and traveled around the globe with her one-woman show, Call Me By Monét, as well as hosted and performed in the Werq The World tour. Since hosting her talk show, The X Change Rate, produced by Yahoo!, Monét has been focusing her oftentimes sociopolitical humor as the co-host of the popular podcast Sibling Rivalry with co-host Bob the Drag Queen and has begun co-hosting a new podcast with the legendary Lady Bunny, Ebony and Irony.
