Description
The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Christine and the Queens to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater for a conversation moderated by Rolling Stone’s Tomás Mier about his recently released, fourth studio album, PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE, his career, creative process, and more. After the discussion, a special live performance will follow.
French singer, songwriter and producer Christine and the Queens (aka Red) recently released his most ambitious studio album to date, PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE on June 9th, 2023 via Because Music. Co-produced by Mike Dean (Lana Del Rey, Beyonce), the album showcases collaborations with Madonna and 070 Shake. The record has garnered widespread acclaim, earning praise from renowned publications such as Variety who called it an “experimental pop masterpiece,” Entertainment Weekly proclaimed it as his “most ambitious undertaking yet,” Billboard described it as “A bold, elective new direction,” and The New Yorker portrayed it as "a patient and pleading unfurling of atmospheric sounds.”
Earlier this year, Red gave an outstanding performance of the lead single “To be honest” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Red has achieved significant success in his musical career with each release to date. His debut album Chaleur humaine (2016) was the U.K.’s best-selling debut album and reached No. 2 on both the French and U.K. charts. The release of Red’s second album Chris (2018) received extensive critical acclaim with NME calling it “a subversive pop masterpiece.” It was ranked the No. 1 album of the year by Clash, The Guardian, Evening Standard, and The Independent. The lead single “Girlfriend” was proclaimed the Best Song of 2018 by TIME. Chris’ EP La vita nuova (2020) was declared by Variety as "arguably [his] best work to date," and was followed by the release of his third studio album Redcar les adorables étoiles (2022), which Consequence described as “a rich romantic odyssey.” Red has amassed over 1.5M+ album sales and 1B+ audio streams to date across all his releases.
Red’s performances at this year’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival were "truly captivating" (Billboard) and "a triumphant, theatrical performance well worth the wait" (Entertainment Weekly). He is currently in the midst of an international tour and will kick off his PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE tour in North America this Fall to further solidify his status as “A new kind of global pop star” (The FADER). Red has toured with notable artists like Florence & The Machine and The 1975 and has been featured on tracks with artists like Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek. Notable performances this year include Roskilde Music Festival, Primavera Sound, BBC’s 6 Music Festival, Meltdown Festival, and a recent set at Glastonbury.
