What is the Gaming Society?

With our friends, partners, journalists, communicators and executives from across the Gaming industry, we will be discussing eSports industry news and trends. With the goal being to deliver vital, trustworthy information and analysis in the most efficient way possible.

Speakers:
Jennifer Stanley is Chair of the Copyright Group and Co-Chair of the Games Industry Group at Fenwick & West. She focuses her practice on intellectual property, technology and media transactions and counsels regularly on copyright protection, strategy, and business model analysis and risk management. Jennifer also advises on copyright disputes and copyright registration matters. She structures, drafts and negotiates complex commercial agreements including game development and publishing agreements (online, offline and mobile), content licensing and distribution agreements, and advertising agreements and has extensive experience in advising on all aspects of strategic commercial transactions. She is one of the go-to authorities on intellectual property issues relating to games, content licensing and social media. Jennifer is also a member of the firm’s Privacy and Cybersecurity practice, advising clients on all aspects relating to collection, use and disclosure of personal information. She also advises clients on the legal issues that arise when running sweepstakes, contests and promotions. Jennifer regularly authors articles and is a frequent speaker at seminars on copyright, intellectual property and media issues, including at the annual Gamer Technology Law Conference sponsored by Law Seminars International. She has been consistently recognized by The Legal 500 in the area of Intellectual Property – Copyright every year since 2013.
Brandon Byrne is the CEO of Opera Event. He is a CEO and Executive for startups in high growth sectors. Management executive with 20 years of experience. His specialties include IPO preparation, international expansion, operations, HR, recruiting, legal and administrative management. Brandon has a strong experience with digital media, video game vertical, mobile, MCN for YouTube, eSports and virtual products. His job is to prepare companies and their management teams for the Pre-IPO process. He creates infrastructure, optimizing capital structures and develop long term strategies for exit.
Roderick Alemania is the Co-Founder and CEO of ReadyUp. An accomplished entrepreneur, Roderick has been at the forefront of industry transforming technology throughout his career. As the internet was transitioning to commercial use, Roderick helped to grow Infoseek from startup to publicly traded company, which was then purchased by Disney. As gaming shifted to the mass market, he was a key contributor for driving IGN’s value from $26MM to a $650MM acquisition by News Corp. At Vudu, he moved digital distribution to high definition formats (HD) when the industry was still in its infancy. At Six Apart, he helped to lead the development of the influencer marketing industry during the early days of blogs. And, at Tapjoy, he pioneered mobile advertising strategies for consumer brands.Conference time is subject to extend due to content/speakers needs.
Douglas Burnet Is the creator of a new non-profit, Museum of Future Sports, Douglas is a hands-on operations professional with big-picture vision and determination to succeed. Extensive non-profit experience including administration, multiple board positions including Chair, fundraising management, administration including hiring and IT. Emphasis in growth management as founder of four startups and key role in others. Over 25 years experience in operations, human resources, finance, investment banking, fundraising, positioning, product development, marketing, alliance relationships. is a 10-year esports industry veteran who joined Justin.tv Gaming in
2011 to become one of the founding members of Twitch. Ben went on to
play a number of pivotal roles at Twitch from the company's infancy
through acquisition by Amazon for $1bn, and has extensive experience in
content strategy, marketing, and business development in the esports
industry. Ben is now an esports investor/advisor and a first-time
entrepreneur.
