What is the Gaming Society?
The Tech Society facilitates transactions among emerging technology Founders/C-Suite, investors and service providers. The Tech Society owns The Entrepreneurship Society, The Cannabis Society, The Blockchain Society, The PropTech Society, The Gaming Society, and The Collective (Women's Only)
The Tech Society creates, markets and executes 150+ emerging technology conferences and hackathons annually in the USA, Canada, and Europe with expansion planned for Asia in 2019.
The Gaming Society is dedicated to changing the perception of eSports, and bringing more mainstream executive attention by educating the marketplace. This exclusive invite-only conference will be attended by eSports industry executives, entrepreneurs, influencers, and media.
With our friends, partners, journalists, communicators and executives from across the Gaming industry, we will be discussing eSports industry news and trends. With the goal being to deliver vital, trustworthy information and analysis in the most efficient way possible.
This will allow you to touch and feel what our Gaming Conferences are all about. This conference will be hosted in a private space in Toronto.

Speakers:
Evan Kubes is the President
and Co-Founder of MKM Group. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree
with Honours at Queens University. He then simultaneously attended the
University of Windsor School of Law and the University of Detroit School
of Law, where he graduated with both a Canadian and American law
degree. While there, Evan was the recipient of the prestigious Canadian
and American Dual J.D. program award for academic performance. The
global nature of esports allows Evan to leverage his expertise in US
& Canadian law to offer clients a multi-jurisdictional approach to
the industry. A cunning lawyer, his passion lies in assisting
non-endemic brands strategically enter the esports space for optimal
success, and helping established esports entities scale their business.
Aside from his love of burgers and all things sports, Evan is the
unverified world record holder in N64's version of Samus's "B
reak the Targets" mini game (9.6s).
Kyle Chatterson is the Director and Partnerships and Content at
theScore esports, where he has led esports strategy since the division's
launch in 2015. Currently 'theScore esports' is the leading media
organization in esports with the largest dedicated content team in the
space. With a team of theScore esports creates exceptional, authentic
content that drives over 15 million views across millions of users every
month by producing 5-7 franchises weekly that cover the entire gamut of
competitive gaming, from profiles of the biggest stars to explaining
gaming culture in a way that is extremely engaging, informative and
approachable. Kyle is also currently finishing up Rotman's Global
Executive MBA at the University of Toronto, and has spent the last 18
months completing courses in 11 different countries across 5
continents. Prior to his career in esports, he worked in politics and
business development at the NATO Association of Canada.
Alex Smyth, CPA, CA, is a Partner and Business Advisor in MNP’s Assurance and Accounting group and a member of the firm’s Technology, Media and Telecommunications team. Working out of the Toronto office, Alex draws on more than 10 years of experience to help clients in diverse industries achieve their strategic goals. Alex is skilled at providing support to clients, including helping them through complex accounting and business issues and Identifying and guiding resolutions and other challenges. He has extensive experience managing financial reporting and supporting key accounting policies, estimates and judgements. Alex’s services include assisting with stock options, Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) claims, obtaining seed and/or series financing, due diligence and tax planning on purchase and sale transactions. Prior to joining MNP in May 2015, Alex worked with an international accounting and business advisory firm and served a variety of clients in diverse industries. Proactive, he makes a point of being available to clients, strives to achieve the best for his clients and ensures that their business and personal needs align. Alex’s clients include small- to medium-sized software service providers, app developers, solar and wind power and generation companies and venture capital funds. Alex is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Chartered Accountant CA). He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor.
Sean MacGillis
is a Queen’s University Engineer by training. Upon graduation in 2014
he joined a 2-person team in corporate development for a mining startup
that was sold for US$500M in
2016. He then joined a small investment banking team at Haywood
Securities that became the lead underwriter for mining issuers in
Canada, raising over C$2.5B in equity and +C$250M in debt. As a Vice
President of Investment Banking at Haywood he works with
clients in the non-resource space with a focus on gaming. An avid
gamer, Sean writes ‘The Gaming Recap’, a weekly newsletter on all topics
in the gaming space.
Christian Sgro is an Equity Research associate with Canaccord Genuity
focused on the Canadian technology sector. While staying on top of tech
notables including CGI, Shopify, and others, Christian is responsible
for covering technology
themes with outsized growth potential. Having first written research on
esports in May 2018, Canaccord has been following the sector closely as
investors take notice of the rapidly growing market. Christian is a
Western Ivey grad, former auditor (CPA,CA),
and regular Fortnite player.

Nicholas Mersch has worked in private equity, equity
research, and portfolio management over the last ten years. In his
current role as Associate Portfolio Manager at Purpose Investments, he
co-manages the Purpose Global
Innovators Fund. The fund invests in leading-edge global businesses in
areas of long-term secular growth. Mr. Mersch has invested in several
prominent early-stage technology companies in Canada and the US, and has
recently been focusing on the emerging esports
environment.
Albert Lai has been a passionate gamer for his whole life, so
it was a natural fit when he turned his significant business experience
to the gaming industry. Albert’s long
history as a serial entrepreneur started in his teens when he sold his
first Internet company for a seven-figure sum. He was most recently the
co-founder and CEO/President of Kontagent, a Facebook-funded analytics
platform that tracked one out of every four dollars spent on
Facebook-connected games. Prior to Kontagent, he was the founder and CEO
of BubbleShare, a photo-sharing company that was sold to
Kaboose/Disney.
Dani Lipkin carries the role of Innovation Sector Head for Toronto Stock Exchange
(TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV). In this capacity, he is
responsible for working with private companies and their shareholders as
they explore and consider the option of raising equity capital in
Canada. Prior to this role, Dani was the Head of Business Development
for Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and Investment Funds on TSX. He has
also worked with the listings group for TSX, where he helped assist
companies in going public.
Jeff Rosekat is a partner and co-founder of
Spark LLP. Called to the Ontario bar in 2000, Jeff spent the first 15
years of his practice on Bay Street at Baker & McKenzie’s
Toronto office, then at Gardiner Roberts. Convinced that there was a
better way of delivering legal services, Jeff and his co-founders
started Spark LLP in 2016. When he is not providing stellar legal
advice to his clients or crushing it in the courtroom, Jeff (along
with Sanjay and Alex, fellow members of Spark LLP) can be found
ridding the galaxy of baddies in Destiny 2 or saving Washington D.C.
from itself in The Division 2.
Alexandria Chun joined Spark
LLP in 2018 as an articling student and will return as an associate
in June 2019. After completing her undergraduate degree in
neuroscience and economics, Alex pursued a legal education focusing
on intellectual property. Being a gaming nerd all her life, Alex
decided halfway through law school that she was going to follow her
dream and become a video game lawyer. Happily, she has found a home
at Spark where she met Jeff and Sanjay, gamers who just happened to
be lawyers. Alex is currently working on creating investment
opportunities in the esports space and in her downtime, has
regrettably started her first ever Dark Souls campaign.
Xavier Rathan-Mayes is a Canadian professional basketball player for Bnei Herzliya of the Israeli Premier League. He played college basketball for the Florida State Seminoles of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Mike Hollinger practices securities, corporate and commercial law with a focus on the venture technology sector. Mike leads Dentons’ Toronto venture technology practice and has transactional experience gained from mergers and acquisitions as well as private and public markets financings in a wide range of industries. Mike advises entrepreneurs, emerging growth companies, investors and acquirers at all stages of growth. He also acts as corporate secretary and adviser to boards and executives facing bet-the-company transactions. Mike joined Dentons’ Toronto office as a partner in 2014, after practicing with another large Canadian law firm.
Bob Tarantino is Counsel at Dentons Canada LLP and focuses his practice on the interface between the entertainment industries and intellectual property law, with an emphasis on film and television production, financing, licensing, distribution, and IP acquisition and protection. His clients range from artists and independent producers to Canadian distributors and foreign studios and financiers at every stage of the creative process, from development to delivery and exploitation. He holds graduate degrees in law from Osgoode Hall Law School and the University of Oxford, including a PhD from Osgoode Hall Law School. Bob has been an adjunct lecturer at Osgoode Hall, Queen’s University’s Faculty of Law and Western University’s Faculty of Law and previously served as the acting co-director of IP Osgoode’s Intellectual Property Law and Technology Intensive Program.
