Part One: Chat & Learn
The night will begin with a panel where we’ll hear from three of our ultimate girl crushes:
Rosie MacLennan: Rosie made her-story at Rio 2016 when she became the first trampolinist to EVER win back-to-back Olympic golds. Although she’s recently suffered a concussion and a broken ankle, this decorated Olympian continues to push herself, and we have been blown away by her focus, grit and positivity. This gal knows the importance of mental strength in performing at an elite level. She’s also passionate about making an impact and is an ambassador for Right To Play.
Kate Beirness: You probably recognize Kate from TSN. She’s the brilliant on-court correspondent and interviewer of the Toronto Raptors and is also a host of TSN’s SportsCentre. Kate has changed the game of the sports media world as she was part of SportsCentre’s first ever female anchor team and is now sitting on the all-female panel for FIFA Women’s World Cup coverage. A lifelong basketball player (she plays pickup every week!), we love Kate’s energy, passion and insane sports knowledge.
Anastasia Bucsis: Anastasia is a two-time Olympian speed skater and the host of CBC’s Player’s Own Voice podcast. In 2013, Anastasia publicly came out ahead of the Sochi 2014 Olympics and in opposition of Russian anti-LGBTQ laws. We are in awe of the extensive work she’s done with the LGTBQ community to combat homophobia in sport. She is a pioneer in making sports more inclusive for everyone.
Moderated by The GIST’s Ellen Hyslop, we’ll get to know these women’s impressive stories, their approach to mental toughness and more on how they’re leveling the playing field.
Part Two: Reset & Play
After the panel we’ll take some time to relax, recharge and play. We’ll get to experience both light and dark guided meditations at the beautiful Hoame Meditation Studio.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to Right To Play.
