Slay the house boots down with House of Silky for a night of all-out-voguing, fantastical fashion and chosen-family revelry. This is a celebration the ballroom collective’s 5th birthday. And. It. Is. Going. To. Serve.
For those yet to encounter their iconic looks and moves, House of Silky is a ballroom collective of QTIPOC artists based in Western Sydney. They’ve played an integral role in shifting Australia’s ballroom culture from underground competitions to centre stage, with performances across Australia including at Sydney World Pride 2023 and Australian Fashion Week.
With roots in the Black, queer, trans community in New York in the late 20th-century, ballroom culture has long been a safe space for all LGBTQI+ people to express themselves freely and with abandon.
House of Silky continue this legacy with their own distinctly local sexy, silly and stylish slant. All are welcome to behold the fierceness, fashion and high-energy voguing as they pull out their biggest, most uplifting party yet.
This event is supported by Machine Hall Precinct and City of Sydney.
