For the first time in 20 years, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is coming to Wales and to celebrate the return of the world’s greatest cricket celebration, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup are organising The Ultimate Delivery! On Friday 31 May, the day before the first game in Cardiff, the official tournament ball will be transported from London to the Cardiff Wales Stadium in time to see New Zealand take on Sri Lanka. On arrival in Wales, the ball will make its way through Cardiff, passing by famous landmarks and through hundreds of pairs of hands, encapsulating the spirit of the city before being presented to the captains of New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Now this is where you come in…. In order to ensure that the ball reaches the Cardiff Wales Stadium in time for the match, we need the people of Cardiff to form a catching relay through the city! Starting from Cardiff Central Station, the ball will be passed through the city before it arrives at the Cardiff Wales Stadium, where the captains will be standing by to receive it. This is THE chance to get your hands on the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup ball and be part of the longest catching relay ever attempted! It doesn’t matter if you’re a cricket fanatic or a total newbie, we want all of Cardiff to be represented, from community legends to local schools and sporting greats. Upon completion everyone who has supported the ball on its journey will be invited to celebrate The Ultimate Delivery at our celebration event, more details to follow.
