Description
Sadly, due to last-minute illness amongst our soloists, our planned "Hagiography" collaboration with the Chivalrous Crickets won't take place. However, we wouldn't leave you without a concert! Being a working church ensemble, we have a program prepared of Cantatas, baroque and contemporary, written for this week, the first of Lent.
The Theotokos "big band" and soloist Rocky Duval will present Telemann's "Fleuch der Lusten Zauberauen", composed for this week in 1726, and Doug Balliett's freshly composed Cantata for the 1st Sunday in Lent, premiered this week in mass on Feb 18, 2024. It's an all star-instrumental cast with Nicola Canzona (harpsichord), Will Copeland and Ela Kodžas (violins), Andrew Blanke (oboe and oboe da caccia), and Clay Zeller-Townson (bassoon). The program will be supplemented by Renaissance Lenten compositions and instrumental works from Telemann.
