Join us at the GAA Museum during Heriatge Week 2024 for a fun family event exploring the ancient sport of hurling. This year's incredible All-Ireland senior hurling final showcased just how special hurling is. It's a game which is part of Irish culture and linked to Irish mythology and legend.
In our Warriors and Hurlers Workshop, our younger visitors will learn more about the story of Setanta, a master hurler who used his sliotar and camán to slay the hound of Chulainn and receive the new name Cú Chulainn! This story highlights the ancient origins of hurling. During the session, our tour guides will trace the development of the game from the times of Cú Chulainn until the present day.
Following the workshop, visitors can follow the Junior Explorer trail around the museum and will also view our film September Days and every child on tour will receive a book telling the story of Setanta and other Irish legends. This event is free but tickets must be booked online in advance.
