Das Waves Festival versteht sich als Showcase-Festival und findet 2021 zum elften Mal statt. Von 9. bis 11. September 2021 treten vor allem jene Bands auf, die über internationales Format verfügen, aber es aus eigener Kraft noch nicht zu großer Bekanntheit geschafft haben. Neben einigen größeren Acts, geht es also vor allem darum neue Acts zu entdecken und diese zu fördern.
Dabei wird das Waves Festival dieses Jahr getreu dem Motto „East Meets West“ einen Fokus auf die Donau-Länder legen. Im Live-Programm werden verstärkt Acts dieser Länder auftauchen. Darüber hinaus widmet die Waves Festival Music Conference einen Teil ihres Programms den Musikmärkten und -szenen aus dieser Region.

Waves Festivals is the city’s first club- and showcase festival and takes place now for the 11th time from 9th to 11th of September 2021. Numerous international emerging alternative, electronic, rock, and club acts will be performing around Vienna’s 9th district. Additionally, local artists and sophisticated musicians from Eastern Europe form an essential part of the festival’s programme.
True to the motto "East Meets West", this year's Waves Festival will focus on the Danube countries. Acts from these countries will increasingly appear in the live programme. In addition, the Waves Festival Music Conference will dedicate part of its programme to the music markets and scenes from this region.
