Explore the plethora of things that can be made in a wood-burning oven at the historical Montgomery’s Inn. Built in 1830, the original inn is now a museum that offers visitors a look back in time through the history of Toronto as well as community programming. The inn’s historical kitchen includes both an indoor and an outdoor wood-burning oven that students will use to bake a full menu of breads, pizza, cinnamon buns, fougasse, sourdough, and more. Work with our expert bread baking instructor to learn about baking in this unique oven that allows you to explore a range of temperatures as well as discover exceptional flavours created in this time-honoured baking method.
In addition, students will have an opportunity to tour the inn — restored to reflect life in the 1850s — with a guide. Discover the life of the innkeepers and guests as you explore the inn’s historic dining room, kitchen, tavern, and rooms.
