Who can resist the pulsating drums and joyous melodies of Bahia? The vibe of Brazilian summer is coming to The Backyard on July 25th with one of carnival’s biggest stars. Xanddy (pronounced SHUN-GEE), is the charismatic lead singer of the popular band Harmonia do Samba, a staple of carnival in Salvador since the 1990’s. With Harmonia do Samba, Xanddy introduced the genre of “pagode baiano”, a style of samba with the flair and humor of Bahia. The band topped the charts in Brazil with dozens of hits and attracts thousands of revelers each year to their “bloco”, the massive carnival parades in Salvador, Bahia. This brand-new solo project entitled “Xanddy Samba & Summer” will feature many of those classic hits as well as a mix of reinterpretations of iconic Brazilian party songs by Djavan, Ivete Sangalo, Alceu Valença, Raça Negra, Exalta Samba and many more, all with the joy and rhythm that only Xanddy and his powerful band can deliver.
