Description
Just in time for Halloween, LADIES of BURLESQUE transports you to Transylvania to celebrate BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA—the audacious, visually resplendent, and seriously erotic 90s’ adaptation of a horror classic from Francis Ford Coppola.
With its stunning art direction, groundbreaking Kabuki-influenced costumes by master artist Eiko Ishioka, astounding silent era in-camera effects, and the legendary cinematography of the Michael Ballhaus, the visual achievements of BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA have yet to be surpassed. Taking an iconic Victorian epistolary novel and infusing it with late twentieth century erotica, Coppola updated and reevaluated Stoker’s classic, infusing his film with references to that which came before it (F.W. Murnau’s NOSFERATU; Tod Browning’s Lugosi-starring 1931 adaptation), as well as creating a distinctly original take on a timeless story of love, terror, and disease. Gary Oldman’s performance as the Dark Prince (in all his various forms) is mesmerizing, iconic, and one of the highlights in his incredible career.
Moreover, Coppola’s visionary take on Stoker’s female creations contributed some of the most seductive and carnal early performances of the 90s. From Winona Ryder’s prudish, yet hot to trot Mina, to Sadie Frost’s DTF Lucy, and of course the Hollywood debut of Italian siren Monica Bellucci as one of Dracula’s terrifying, yet alluring brides, BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA is a feverish dreamscape of female sexuality.
