Description
SALTY WOMAN 3: BREAKING THROUGH
Join our third Salty Woman meet-up where we bring in women of influence to share their stories and invite others to break the silence and speak up and celebrate the achievements of our fellow sisters here in Toronto.
You look at so much going on in the world and it’s amazing how quickly events surrounding women issues have helped create stronger communities. It’s important to realize how far we’ve come as a group and the topics we are now able to talk about that would never have been spoken aloud before.
On Monday, September 30, join us at the Drake hotel as we sit down with three fantastic women in a panel discussion on how they are breaking boundaries and driving change. Sponsored by Salty Paloma and Empress Gin, we’re proud to donate all ticket sales to the Dandelion Initiative, a non- profit supporting community-led action to end sexual violence, by survivors for survivors.
We invited the founder of the Dandelion Initiative, Viktoria Belle, to tell her story on creating safer spaces in bars through her safer bars and spaces program. Joining her is Hassel Aviles, food and beverage consultant and founder of Not 9 to 5, addressing mental health and addiction in the hospitality space. We’ll also have Aden Abebe, creator of Virgins the Series, a comedy series featuring East African women in the forefront and visualizing the struggle of adulthood as millennials and the conversation of love and relationships as virgins.
Rather than your regular panel-style event, we will have a guided open conversation while hearing the stories of our selected speakers. We'll spend some time to understand the judgement we face as women and the need to break through boundaries, both within society as well as within ourselves.
TICKET INFO: $25
Entry into the 2-hour long panel discussion and networking event, with a complimentary welcome drink by Salty Paloma x Empress 1908 Gin.
Empress 1908 Gin, an award winning Canadian gin inspired by the beautiful tea service at the iconic Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC. Empress 1908 Gin is 100% natural. It is infused with the vibrantly-hued butterfly pea blossom, added for its subtle earthy flavour but resulting in a singularly distinct expression - an impossibly lush and vivid indigo blue.
100% of ticket sales will go to the Dandelion Initiative, formerly known as the sexual assault action coalition, a non profit created by survivors of sexual assault and violence for survivors of sexual assault and violence.
