INKUBUS SUKKUBUS
.... are a British Pagan Goth/Folk rock band, based in Gloucestershire, with an international following.
The subject matter of their music tends to veer towards the dark and supernatural, exploring witchcraft, magick, folklore, death rites and more.
The Inkies – as they’ve come to be known – formed in the summer of 1989, and have been releasing albums and touring ever since. To date, they’ve brought out over 25 studio albums and performed live in Mexico, USA, Australia, Russia, Turkey, Scandinavia, UK and most of Europe; they have also appeared on national terrestrial television in the UK, Greece, Germany and Finland.
In 2020, Candia and Tony published a book and CD based on their Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder trilogy, taking a deeper look at the meaning of some of their songs and the folklore that inspired them.
Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder – The folklore, myths and magic of Gloucestershire, the Cotswolds and beyond: Exploring the lyrics of Inkubus Sukkubus (ISBN 978-1-5136-6580-1) is available direct from the band for £15 (+P&P) for book and 13-track CD.
2023 The band released their 27th album entitled 'She of a Thousand Names' which was released alongside the video game created by Tony McKormack of the same name. Tony McKormack also released a multiplayer game called 'Angels of Darkness Angels of Light'. An album containing the soundtrack for this game as well as 'The Last Days of Sodom' and 'Necropolis of the Angels' released on Valentines Day 2024. The band continued to perform live throughout the year.
2024 Inkubus Sukkubus are now in their 35th year with a short tour of Mexico in January, and a series of dates with their acoustic, 'Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder' set in April and May.

SUNDAY - FEATURING
WESTENRA and TENGU TAIKO DRUMMERS
Venue : Whitby Brewery
Times : 4.00pm - 7.00pm
WESTENRA
....are a Melodic Gothic Rock band from Whitby, UK who straddle the line of Goth, Alternative Rock & Metal. Luciferia (vocals), Karl (guitar) and Dominique (bass) create dark & emotional, yet uplifting & danceable songs.
Since exploding onto the UK goth scene in 2019 ::WESTENRA:: have been building a reputation for captivating live performances of their stylish and atmospheric sound. Their debut album “First Light” was released in January 2021 to rave reviews, followed by a cover version of the Cliff Richard classic “Devil Woman” in March 2022 - a taster for the new, bigger sound featured on the four track EP “BREATHE” which was released in July 2022. Their version of Iron Maiden’s “Number of The Beast” - originally meant as an exclusive live performance to celebrate their headlining the Whitby Krampus Run Ball - was released in February 2023, with proceeds going to the Whitby Krampus Run chosen charities.
May 2022 saw Whitby Abbey invite the band to perform within its grounds as part of their celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the novel Dracula - this generated substantial national and international exposure for the band, with the area that they performed in front of now known as “The ::WESTENRA:: Arches”.
2023 was another exciting year for ::WESTENRA:: as they released the "Toxic Little Tales" EP ahead of playing the prestigious TOMORROW’S GHOSTS FESTIVAL in Whitby in October, with gothic rock superstars THE MISSION and post-punk legends THEATRE OF HATE.
In 2024, Westenra are currently working on their next studio Album. The band are looking to expand further around the UK as well as setting their sights to perform in Europe and beyond.
One of our favourite bands that always put on an spectacular performance. We love them.
TENGU TAIKO DRUMMERS
....formed in August 2018, and came about via the Tengu School of Taiko, a teaching project started in 2009 by Tengu founder Jared Hardwick to share the benefits of this fun performing art to more people. While conducting regular classes over the years, a core group of regular individuals with a desire to further their skills, have been invited to move up to intermediate level, and after more intense training, were ready to form the performing group.
They have an extensive repertoire and play both traditional and contemporary pieces. Most of the pieces they write are influenced by Japanese culture and folklore, but sometimes use influence from other cultures and themes which brings diversity to their shows.
Their aim is to share the joy of Taiko as well as the benefits and energy that it creates, both through performance and hands on experience via regular courses and workshops.
Tengu Taiko raised the roof when they played the first Krampus Ball in 2019 and we are so excited to have them back again for WKRX.
Your host for evening will be the one and only Mackie
