Description
Baskets, roots, trees, meditations, memories, dreams- all WOVEN. All vital. All speaking to connectivity, shared experiences, generativity.
Join us on Saturday October 19th, amid peak Fall beauty in the Hudson Valley, for a very special Autumn afternoon at @skyrisefarm in Millerton, NY, co-created by @formandlight, @underwater_weaving and @laurelandashfarm!
Our time will begin with an opening land honoring and grounding ritual led by Sarah Rigano of FORM + LIGHT to welcome guests.
We will then gather in the Black Barn yard, with firepits lit and tables festively set, as Erin Pollard of Underwater Weaving Studio introduces guests to the art of weaving, teaching us how to make a Panier de Crudités, French-inspired rustic basket, a stunning creation both functional and décor ready for Fall gatherings and Holiday happenings. A meditative experience in itself, the class invites participants to go at their own pace, with assistance from Erin and her team as needed. No prior experience is necessary!
We will further connect around table for a celebratory pond-side brunch featuring a seasonal, plant-forward menu highlighting the delicious provisions of Ashley Ruprecht’s Laurel and Ash Farm, including their Audubon New York Certified Bird-Friendly maple syrup, artisanal vinegars and a special, first taste of their Heirloom Grain Pancake Mix launching this holiday season! This menu, thoughtfully prepared by the talent that is Chef Alyse Dufour (Botanica, Gjelina) to deeply nourish and inspire!
Throughout the day, Sarah, Erin and Ashley will share with participants their personal experiences of how honoring ancestral practices in the present can be a salve for disconnected times. How coming back to the land, to craft, to making mindfully, can gift profound benefits for self and community, leading to greater presence, well-being and creativity!
Join us for what promises to be a very special gathering!
Tickets are limited. The $250/PP price covers the cost of tools, materials, take-home instructions, refreshments, brunch and good vibes!
We look forward to welcoming you to the farm.

ABOUT UNDER WATER WEAVING
Underwater Weaving is a basket atelier, creative weaving studio, and community. We make hand woven, one-of-a-kind contemporary baskets for the trade, retail and private commission. Through group weaving gatherings we endeavor to revive the craft of basketry, encourage creative freedom, and offer access to mediation through connecting the hands, heart and mind with natural materials.
Founder Erin Pollard observed the craft of basketry as a child, watching her mother weave and teach in Maine. After almost two decades working in fashion in New York, and long after her mother retired, Erin began weaving her own path. Through sharing her woven art, it became clear that many others were seeking an antidote to modern day ennui; a way to reclaim their hands. Soon, Erin and her mother began designing and creating together and Underwater Weaving Studio was born.
